My Trip to Italy

I’ll never forget that spring day when I was sitting in a Paris airport waiting for my connecting flight to Venice. Something amazing changed my life forever.

My dear friend Jani’ce and I traveled from California to Italy 🇮🇹 with a 5 hour layover in Paris. We ate, we laughed, and we went in and out of duty free shops, killing time while waiting for our connecting flight.

While we roamed around, we noticed one of the train stations connected to the airport. I remember so vividly standing there feeling the wind of the trains whizzing by thinking how wonderful the wind felt on my face. All of sudden one of these high speed trains stopped, the doors opened, and a flood of people came pouring out.

I stood there in shock as I witnessed all these beautiful men and women pouring out of this train looking so impeccably well-dressed. They were absolutely stunning! Simple but elegant, casual but luxurious and I thought to myself: wow! Why don’t people in America look like this? This is the way everyone should dress. 😂

As I stared at these beautiful people my girlfriend Jani’ce looked at me and said, “Paula, close your mouth. We laughed at my expression and disbelief.

I was so mesmerized by how beautiful everyone looked, and how put together they were. I was amazed at the simplicity of how clothing was being worn and how effortlessly everyone dressed. Easy, clean, and sharp, but not overdone. From that moment on, I noticed everyone dressed that way the entire time I was in Europe!

Right then, my life was changed forever. In that moment, I knew great styling isn’t always learned, it's about understanding what makes you feel completely at ease and comfortable. Of course, having a sense of style is helpful, too.

In years since, I have found there is a way to wear high end clothing and look simple, yet elegant. I once heard a quote that says: "Fashion is about dressing according to what’s fashionable. Style is more about being yourself.”- Oscar de la Renta

So what do you think? Would you like both your life and wardrobe changed forever? Would you like dressing effortlessly, yet chic? Casual, yet elegant, or simple, yet stylish? Well, Paula Cole Design has the ability to make the impossible possible with your wardrobe.

There is a rhythm to clothing, and that rhythm is having the right pieces that are staples -- “go-to pieces” in your closet. When you have these pieces everything works around them. It’s through those staple pieces where outfits are made and experienced. It’s a starting point to build on.
